The Quran we know today is an enigma, with missing chapters and hundreds of vanished verses. But why is this so? The answer lies in the concept of abrogation. However, what occurs when additions are made? The common response is that the individual who omitted something from the current Quran simply erred. But what if we compare two of today’s Qurans and find different Arabic words carrying diverse meanings? The explanation given is that the Quran was revealed in multiple ways, and these varying readings are complementary. Despite all these features suggestive of changes and corruption, Muslims maintain that the Quran has been perfectly preserved, as per Allah’s miracle.
